Letter From the Principal - September 2019

September 1, 2019

Dear Cunningham Families,

What a wonderful first few weeks it has been to the 2019-20 School Year.  We’ve had Pep Rallies, Character Award Assemblies, and lots of fun (albeit, HOT!) days. Students and staff are getting reacquainted and building new relationships.

This year at Cunningham we have lots of fun and learning planned.  In September we are still getting back into the groove of the year and by October it’ll be time for Parent-Teacher Conferences and Fall Fest at Thicket.  Both of these are excellent ways to engage with our school community and support our students in their learning community.

This year we are focusing on making sure our practices match our vision of Cunningham creating students who engage in problem-solving and critical thinking for a lifetime. We are excited to partner with you on this journey.  We encourage you to talk with your students about the work they are doing and the problems they can solve given the tools they have right now. You’ll be surprised at how independent and self-directed young minds can be when we let them.

Please look for this letter monthly.  We’ll give you just brief updates about what’s going on around campus, in classrooms, and with our partners (PEAS & the Emeril Lagasse Foundation).  Currently we anticipate the Teaching Kitchen to be built out by mid-March. Fingers-crossed!
