At Cunningham, we believe in developing the whole child. Academics and social and emotional learning must be in balance for our students to achieve their full potential.
The Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Core has five competencies that ensure students are developing fundamental skills necessary for life:
- Self-Management,
- Social Awareness,
- Relationship Skills,
- Self-Awareness,
- and Responsible Decision-Making.
Cunningham teachers engage students through active participation in daily morning circles (Responsive Classroom) which align with SEL competencies. The skills are integrated throughout the day.
Social Emotional Learning is crucial in developing the whole child.
